Product Description

Canberra is the capital city of Australia. With a population of over 345,000, it is Australia’s largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. Canberra – the capital of Australia – is sometimes referred to as the bush capital because pockets of bushland reserve extend almost to the city centre and over half of the Australian Capital Territory, within which Canberra lays, is classified as national park or nature reserve. Canberra is a young capital – a planned city like many other capitals in the world. American architect Walter Burley Griffin designed the city after winning an international architectural competition in 1912. The spirit of his original design, which celebrates Canberra’s natural environment, is still evident as the city grows. Canberra covers an area of 814.2 square kilometres and is located near the Brindabella Ranges, approximately 150 kilometres inland from Australia’s east coast. It has an elevation of approximately 580 metres, the highest point is Mount Majura at 888 metres Other large hills include Mount Taylor, Mount Ainslie, Mount Mugga Mugga and Black Mountain. The ACT is considered an excellent place to do business. Canberra, the seat of the Federal Government has a highly skilled and adaptable workforce, concentrated intellectual capital, an internationally competitive business environment and outstanding educational and research and development capabilities. Canberra is modern city, set within extensive parks and gardens and enjoys four distinct seasons.
